Forever Cool!
Joanna Angel

Xtreme: Joanna, L.A. Pink was one of my favorite movies you made. Tell me about it?

Joanna Angel: That was a really big movie, a parody of “L.A. Ink”, and it’s called “L.A. Pink”.

Xtreme: Tell me a little bit about that.

Joanna Angel: Okay, well, there’s nine scenes in the movie! There’s a lot of sex in it. It’s basically... it’s very loosely based off of “L.A. Ink”. It’s about me, Joanna Von Angel, and I own a tattoo shop with some of my friends, and we have sex with all the customers that come in, and they all ask for overly sentimental tatoos. Then one day this guy comes in, and it’s actually Sean Michaels, and he offers me a frozen pizza licensing deal [laughs], like he wants me to make Joanna Von Angel frozen pizzas to be sold everywhere. He offers me a lot of money and a lot of, um, pizza, but part of the deal is that I wouldn’t ever be able to have sex again, so I’m not sure whether I should sell my soul or not. So I kind of sell my soul, then I change my mind. It’s a pretty goofy movie, there’s a lot of good sex in it, and it’s very long. It’s, like, a four hour movie, packaged as a two-disc set. Hopefully people will actually watch the plot and won’t fast forward through it.

Xtreme: If it was me, I’d probably have to watch the plot and fast forward through the sex, especially now that I’ve met you and talked to you so many times, as well as another girl I’ve met, Draven Starr. And Brian [Street Team, Burning Angel friend and roadie]!

Joanna Angel: Yes, and Brian! Brian Street Team is in the movie. It’s funny because you know on “L.A. Ink” there’s one male tattoo artist in the shop, and the rest of them are chicks. Brian is the male tattoo artist in the shop, and nobody ever wants to get a tattoo done from him. Every time people come in he’s like, “Hey man, I’m free, I’ll do it!” and they always say, “Um, I came here to get tattooed by a chick.”

Xtreme: You actually appeared on the “L.A. Ink”. Do you think this parody stemmed from that, or would you have done it anyway?

Joanna Angel: I actually was thinking about it for a while before I was on the show. But once I was on it, they kind of made fun of me on TV a little. It’s okay, I didn’t care that much, but basically when I was on the show, everybody in the shop would keep asking me, “Oh, so what would happen if you had a really bad day at work?” And I’d be like, “Well, that doesn’t really happen because I work for myself,” then they’d ask me, you know, “What if you had to work with a guy that was really gross?” I was like, “What are you guys getting at here?” and they said, “Well, what does it feel like if you really have to fake an orgasm?” and everybody in the shop was just begging me to do it so finally I just let out this really loud 5-minute fake orgasm, you know? And it was really ridiculous. Then when they aired it on TV, they just made it look like I did it out of nowhere, and then they cut in all these people being like, “Dude, I was just trying to give her a tattoo and all of a sudden she just started having an orgasm. It was really annoying,” and everybody was kind of making funny looks at me and stuff. Why did they do that!? I mean, it could have been worse, but I guess this was my own little way of making fun of them.

Xtreme: Now, you mentioned when you were in town how that was the first time you’d brought girls to dance with, and I know you’ve done it since.

Joanna Angel: Yeah, that was a lot of fun!

Xtreme: Do you think it’s something you’ll keep doing?

Joanna Angel: I hope so. You know, we’ll see what happens. Feature dancing is the one part of my career that I’m not 100% in control of. They call me and then I show up. So it depends on what they want, but I really like doing it, because sometimes people forget that I have my own company. Sometimes people just assume I’m a girl that’s done a few movies for Hustler, and not to sound condescending, but I don’t have the same story as every other porn girl, and it’s a little frustrating when people talk to me and just leave out the fact that I have my own company. So it’s cool because it markets me as more of a package and not just as one person. And most of the girls at Burning Angel really only work for me and a couple other people, and that’s something they might not get to do otherwise because most girls who feature dance have been in, like, thousands of movies. And my girls aren’t really like that, so it’s cool that they get to do that.

Xtreme: Speaking of your girls, didn’t I read that when you were making “L.A. Pink” you devirginized one of your girls, Phoenix?

Joanna Angel: I didn’t. People get confused because I put them both in the same blog entry, but Phoenix wasn’t in the movie. We just shot her around the time of “L.A. Pink”, and then I didn’t blog for a couple weeks, and then I wrote a blog entry like, “Here’s everything I’ve been doing the past few weeks, we shot “L.A. Pink” and Phoenix came over and I took her girl virginity and da da da,” so they’re actually different occasions. I’ve devirginized a lot of girls though.

Xtreme: Do you like doing that?

Joanna Angel: Yeah, I do! It’s fun because, I mean, for the most part I haven’t really devirginized a girl and been like, “Ewww, I didn’t like that.” It’s really cool to see the looks on their faces. I don’t know. I kind of like to do everything, and it’s my time to make the other girl feel good. Most of the time when you’re doing scenes with guys, even though I tend to be a more aggressive performer, guys really do lead the scene. If you’re in doggy, you’re just on the floor and the guy is fucking you and moving around and doing everything, and it’s kind of cool to have a scene where it’s just me putting the girl into positions, and me putting the girl down, and me getting the reaction out of her. Usually the guy’s the prop and I’m the focus, but here I’m the prop and it’s pretty cool [laughs].

Xtreme: Okay, I get that. Have you devirginized any people off-camera?

Joanna Angel: Hmm, have I? I have.

Xtreme: Was it a lady?

Joanna Angel: Yes. I’ve never devirginized a guy, only a girl.

Xtreme: Do you think you’re better in bed with menor women?

Joanna Angel: I think it’s totally a different thing. With guys, it’s almost like 9 times out of 10 if their dick is inside of something then it feels good, and that’s just how guys are. But with girls, it’s a totally different thing.

Xtreme: More work.

Joanna Angel: Yeah, and that’s why I always tell girls before scenes, “Don’t fake it. If I’m not doing something that feels good, don’t tell me it feels good just because the camera’s on. It’s almost like a challenge, like, just let me find it.

Xtreme: What would you say your overall success rate is?

Joanna Angel: Oh, who knows. I mean, they are girls, maybe they’re lying!

Xtreme: Excellent point. So is there anything you’ve been wanting to try out lately?

Joanna Angel: I don’t know. I think I’ve been doing everything I want to do. I can’t really think of anything.

Xtreme: One of the last times we talked, you had just finished a gang bang with five guys, and you were happy with it, but you were still sore!

Joanna Angel: [Laughs] I had a really good time doing it!

Xtreme: Have you done anything like that since, like, any more large numbers?

Joanna Angel: I’ve done some DPs, but I haven’t done anything with five guys. I’m sure I will again. Also, when you run your own company, it’s expensive. My pockets aren’t that deep. And you probably won’t see too many scenes with five guys right now. I don’t do as many scenes as some other people in the industry, so I’m still riding that one scene out.

Xtreme: What is the best way to keep up with all your new scenes?

Joanna Angel: You know, if you just go to Burning Angel, there’s new scenes all the time, and we have a bunch of new websites, stuff like that. So I would just say to go there and check out what’s there that’s new.
Xtreme: Do you think you’ll keep up with the feature dancing?

Joanna Angel: Yeah, I have so much fun doing it, and I always really look forward to it. I try to... I don’t know, I think I did okay in Connecticut, right?
Xtreme: You guys were great! You beat the shit out of my boyfriend [on stage], though.

Joanna Angel: [Laughing] I know!
Xtreme: No, you guys were awesome.

Joanna Angel: Well, thank you! I’m glad you liked it.
Xtreme: Well, thank you so much again for chatting with me.

Joanna Angel: Thank you so much!
